Mending Monday #2

Argh, I ended up skipping two whole Mondays already but I just didn't have time to fix anything the past two weeks. The fixes this week are not very good but I'm willing to forgive my own shoddy work this time. Here are the culprits:

First, my Queens Of The Stone Age shirt. It's worn down bad and has holes and tears all over! Since it's a PJ shirt I didn't bother making it perfect.

Second is a new shirt: the white top that came with my PJ pants. I ripped it taking the tags out, totally hate when that happens! Either way it was a pretty clean rip I could handle.

So the worn down bits were very, very worn down. And I didn't have gray thread. It turned out pretty rough but I only wear this around the house so these stitches gave it a little more life.

This turned out better, not perfect but alright. Also a basic back stitch.

I didn't only sew actually, I also superglued some stuff not so well.

I forgot to take before pics but the sword fell of my Haytham figurine and this old IKEA frame (that I have loved for many years, I'm not about to let it fall to pieces!) broke during a move. It was very hard to keep them in place and they honestly look pretty crooked but everything's back in one piece so I'm happy.

And that's that for this Mending Monday. Fix anything lately? Leave me a link or a message.

Stuff I Bought + Gifts + X-mas Outfit

Hey, what a late post! But yes, I've done a little shopping late last year and it was also Christmas/New Year's which is the gift-giving season and I was really spoiled this year.

First, some things I picked up at the outlet store:

CDs! I picked up the REM, Texas, and Fatboy Slim records straight away but took note of the other albums there. I listened to a couple of tracks and realized that I really liked all of them, some very fun 2000s pop. They are like a euro a CD there so I decided to grab them. Lemar and Anastacia are new artists to me.

I also got this really cute notebook from Lenwa. It's a hardcover and with lines, perfect for writing.

This weird unicorn-elephant hybrid, I thought he looked so goofy, I kinda love him.

Some scarpbook paper with very nice and nostalgic designs. Even better is the fact that some of the sheets are lined like letter paper!

Some cute pastel stickers: travel themed.

This weird bandana. It's very synthetic and not really wearable but the print is so cute I decided that it would be part of a sewing project, likely a pouch for my music player.

A painfully green pillow case... also to be used for sewing stuff! I love the colour but it just wouldn't work as a pillow but would make an excellent pouch.

Just a cute little box that I used for keeping my sister's gift in but since it's not wrapping paper, it's reusable. Pretty nice.

This is not actually for me but I had to show off how cute the iPod nano my sister wanted is. It's so small and light! Sound quality is excellent. I'm so glad it arrived on time and that she liked it.

And now for something a little different. Drink tasting over the past few weeks!

Walker's melon soda. 2/10. Disgusting! Doesn't even taste like artificial melon. Just tastes bad.

Walker's strawberry soda. 2/10. I thought it tasted a smidge better than the melon but no. Both super gross!

Some kind of Naruto ramune? 8/10. Just a very nice and regular ramune. Pleasant.

Oishi green tea. 8/10. Not too sweet, a very good and flavourful green tea. Nothing crazy which is how I like green tea drinks usually.

Calypso original lemonade. 6/10. Not bad or anything, it's obviously not organic or anything but the artificial flavours are strong with this one. I like sour but this feels a little to chemical for me.

And now a short interlude: my outfit to Christmas dinner at our friend's, Monique's, house. It was pretty chilly even though she has a fireplace. I love the skirt but it has a lot of volume and while I was walking near a low table I knocked a champagne glass off of it... embarrassed!!

And now... the gifts! Monique was so sweet because we agreed to not give each other gifts this year because everyone's been really tight on money but she still gifted all of us something. I also only expected one thing this year, the music player that I ordered myself, but my family still got me some other gifts which was too much but also so nice of them. I got my sister the iPod and a Minecraft sweater that she wanted and my mum got her an eyebrow piercing. I got my brother new Sony headphones, basically replacing his old ones that broke earlier this winter. For my mum I got a box of really expensive chocolates which I know is kind of a lame gift but she said that's what she really wanted and I made sure she actually had it all to herself without any pesky little bastards stealing any! Here's what I was lucky enough to get:

This PJ set from Kiabi. I can never have enough PJ pants, especially if they are flannel. They are so cozy. The top is honestly cute enough to wear as an under-layer for every day wear.

The music player!! It's so pretty and I've already been messing around with it for days... is it sort of clunky and convoluted? Hell yes and that's how I want it to be! I need to eventually get a 256GB SD card to use it to it's full capacity as the 16GB one I had was filled instantly.

My sister gave me a whole box of stuff with cute stickers (that I scratched off to re-use, duh) and doodles.

Inside was this cute card sticker with the Millennium Falcon, a Nana mouse pad, and a Gorillaz poster I forgot to take a picture of! It's significance is that it's the same Gorillaz design that I had on another poster as a kid. Nostalgic!

And last but not least at all, Monique gifted me a huge and cozy scarf. I'm a big scarf fan but I actually didn't have one that was so poofy. Perfect for the current weather and Monique is such a classy lady, she usually only dresses in black which is something I respect, so she got it for me in a colour she knew I'd like and would go with near anything: black and white.

So yeah, I was totally spoiled this December. How did your holidays go? Did you get anything this year that you were really wishing for? I hope you'll have a great 2026!

Mending Monday #1

Hey friends. I had an idea since the autumn of last year to have a little blog series? Challenge? I don't know what to call it but it's something that I'm gonna try to do weekly! Mending Monday is what I'm calling this thing and it's exactly what it sounds like: fixing whatever you have to fix. Do you have some ripped clothes? A broken piece of jewelry, tech, or furniture? If it needs to be sewn, glued back, stapled, or welded I recommend taking a little time on any Monday to dig through that pile of stuff that's been on stand-by and mend or modify what you can, Monday by Monday.

To start of, I fixed up some stockings/tights that have holes in them. One pair is really old and was worn in multiple spots, the toe-area was pretty simple to fix but there was a sizeable area in the crotch that needed to be properly sewn back together. I have been using this neat darning method for a while and recommend it if you're not the best at sewing (like me) and want a good fix for some holes:

So here's how it went for me.

The main issue, these two weird spots in the crotch area.

And how it went. As I'm sure you can see it's not perfect but the tights are wearable again. They are quite old so the material is worn but they are of good quality so I'll keep fixing them up.

The second pair ripped near the upper thigh, I think I accidentally ripped it with my nails when I was trying to put them on. A bit disappointed that they ripped so easily but I still wanna wear them.

Because of the shape and size of the hole, the stitch did bring the knit-pattern a little awkwardly close but the tights no longer have a hole and it doesn't really bother me.

And that's all for my first Mending Monday. If you're interested in joining or sharing what you've been fixing up please feel free to leave me a comment. In the future I'd love to link to other people's mending and fixing projects. You could do Fixing Fridays instead if Monday's are too busy too, haha! Anyway, to more old stuff being fixed and less new stuff being bought in the year of 2026.
