Thrift Finds + More {Mar-Apr 2026}

Hey everyone! Before I get into this latest thrift and finds post, I have to state the obvious: my second attempt at the A-Z blogging event is again dead in the water. Work has really just kicked my ass... I didn't have much time or energy for regular blogging and even less time for anything else. I do feel dumb for coming into it again so unprepared but when it's over, it's over. I do wanna say a big thanks for the lovely comments I did get, you guys are too sweet. I hope I can actually keep up with it another time, but the track record is not good! Still, better to try and fail than do nothing.

Now, onto the thrifting and such. It's been a great few months since I last made one of these posts and I've come across a variety of really great items. I will start with DVDs...

DVDs

I went back to the recyclerie that moved out of town last year and browsed their DVD isle again. The flood seemed to have hit them hard because some of the DVDs had a light coating of mud. However all the discs were in good condition so I picked up some good ones.

First, I was really surprised to see the 2000 movie Groove about the San Fran rave scene of the 90s. I've been meaning to watch it for a while so seeing it on DVD will be the best!

The first time I watched Bottle Rocket I didn't enjoy it much but after having not enjoyed the latest of the Wes Anderson movies I actually kind of have a craving for his early work, for which I have much more love.

I can't believe I still haven't seen Steamboy! Time to do that.

I don't really like this one, nor do I like Ben Affleck. But I do love Josh Hartnett and I will have his entire filmography on DVD one day. Er... except maybe TRAP and the upcoming Verity.

The next four DVDs were gifted to me by my brother.

Season 6 of Winx. He confused it with W.I.T.C.H. which he knows is one of my fave cartoons. Fuck it, close enough.

Aliens! I love both of the first two films in the franchise so much. The only other thing I like as much in the world of Alien is Alien: Isolation.

So... Red Scorpion is a terrible right-wing and pro-American Imperialism movie but it's also mentioned on Noah Kulwin and Brendan James' podcast, Blowback. So in a way, it's actually an obscure souvenir of a left-wing anti-military production. Sure, let's say that... I have no idea what the fuck Storm Chasers or Cyclone is but since I am a bad movie connoisseur I will be sampling them anyway.

Also realized I picked up the Making Of Meteora by Linkin Park, not the actual Meteroa album. Still a good find that I am now curious to watch.

I also found some great CDs, most were thrifted but I also found some at the discount store.

CDs

First, the Cranberries' Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.

Fatboy Slim's You've Come a Long Way, Baby.

Got some emo bangers too with Anberlin's Lowborn and Senses Fail's Pull The Thorn From Your Heart at the discount store.

My brother gave me a CD full of Irish folk music. Sure, why not.

I also picked up a bunch of singles. Mr. Oizo's Flat Beat, a very fun tune. Limp Bizkit's Rollin', nu-metal forever, duh. All Saints' Pure Shores, this song is stuck in my head! Nada Surf's Popular, which I already actually gave but it's a different version and in a jewel case.

I also got some cute clothes. Two tops, some shoes, and a very cool sporty bag.

Clothes

First, at our local friperie I picked up a simple brown longsleeve with a cute fishy print from Diplodocus, a brand from which I have another top I liked at a lot.

At the same place I got some very simple black heels, meant for work, from Nordways. They are literally from an old 'office' brand! The reason I got them is because it's the ideal heel-height for my flat feet. My boots have the same heel and my feet don't get tired in them at all. Anything higher or flatter than that and I have serious pain without adding an insole.

During the big brocante of two weeks ago, I found some really great things: A cute as heck short-sleeve blouse in a crazy flannel pattern. You guys know... me and flannel, ride or die. It's by... a brand I genuinely cannot distinguish. The logo's cursive is so curly I cannot read it.

I also got this fanny-pack style bag from Rip Curl. Old stuff from surfing brands are like crack cocaine to me. I really like the red and the tropical flowers on this and it can be tightened well, so it sits in a sporty way when I want a bag that's not gonna be flapping around.

And next, some stationery I have acquired...

Stationery

So this pen was actually made by my friend Maria! She has her own stall and usually sells her hand-made goods there. It's so cute and unique, I kinda wanna use it now but I'm keeping it safe for the autumn.

I also picked up the cutest glitter pens at the discount store. My previous ones are about to run out so these are the replacements. I'm also running short on black pens but there weren't any at the store.

I also found inkpads in the cutest colours! I love all of them but am especially drawn to the green.

I got some stickers that are pretty childish but they were making me nostalgic about primary school so I decided to pick them up.

Some very cute washi tapes with bears!! Their dumb little faces cracked me up.

Home Decor

So, I didn't buy these two objects but they were some awesome gifts to me from my family. First is this Ministry Of Silly Walks poster from the thrift store. I know Twitter dude-bros will try to ruin Monty Python for everyone but not me! I still think they are hilarious.

My mum also gave me this really cute garland with a dainty floral pattern. If you're wondering why the decor of my room has such an incohesive style that's because that is the style! Pandemonium!

Beauty & Hygiene

I got curious and decided to finally try a re-fillable shower gel from the supermarket. It's monoi-scented. I love monoi more than I love life. I love how it looks, how it smells, I'd probably eat it if it was edible. Will report back on this thing!

Drink Review

Yes, I have sampled many-a drink in the past few months and here are some incredibly well-researched and formulated opinions.

First: Kelly Loves Ramune. Not bad or anything, but inferior to the OG. 6/10.

Second:  Cyberpunk-looking Ramune. Better than Kelly but still has a weird aftertaste. Does taste like some bullshit that will probably kill you in Cyberpunk. 6.5/10.

Third: Calypso's Berry Bloom. Sour as hell. Which is what I like. If you hate sour, you will hate this. Not heavy on the berry, crazy on the sour. 8/10.

And that's all for the past few months. Again, for anyone who was looking forward to me completing the A-Z challenge, I am very sorry. I'm a disorganized mess and any small changes to my life, work in this case, totally derail everything else. It's a problem. Hope you're doing well though, reader, and enjoying your life and Spring time.
